GRANITE BAY, Calif. — Granite Bay residents now have a new hub for groceries, specialty foods and local products. 

Nugget Markets officially opened Wednesday at a shopping plaza on the corner of Sierra College and Douglas boulevards, marking the company’s first location in Granite Bay and its 17th store in Northern California.

The store had been under construction since June.

With its doors now open, Nugget Markets offers a wide variety of departments. Guests can browse a full-service meat and seafood section, locally grown fruits and vegetables, a bakery and a cheese department. 

The store also features a coffee and juice bar, prepared foods and a selection of specialty groceries.

Residents visiting the store on opening day shared their excitement about the new addition to Granite Bay.

“I think this is a really exciting thing because it's upscale and it's what's really needed here in Granite Bay,” one shopper said. “I think you’re going to find a lot of people are going to use this store on a frequent basis… the architectural details of the place are fantastic. I’ll probably be here three times a week.”

Many shoppers noted the store’s design is a standout feature. Architectural touches include aisle markers made from old windows.

Nugget Markets is a family-owned business that's operated in Northern California communities since 1926. The company is headquartered in Davis.

The Granite Bay location is open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., inviting residents to visit and experience everything the new store has to offer.
